Introducing the Dallas Literary One Night Stand

We are excited to announce the introduction of a new local reading series here in Dallas, Texas: the Dallas Literary One Night Stand series, a new reading event to connect writers, readers, and lovers of literature in the Dallas area.

Our first event is Friday, November 2nd starting at 7pm at the City Cafe Dallas and features Marc Nieson, the 2008 winner of our Raymond Carver Short Story Contest. He will be reading selections from his upcoming novel, Houdini’s Heirs. Additionally, we will feature a reading of his winning story and another Raymond Carver Short Story Contest winner, performed by up and coming thespians.

Complimentary appetizers will be served and a cash bar is available. Attendees are welcome to Mix & Mingle starting at 7pm and readings will begin at 8pm. Afterwards desserts and coffee will be available for those who want to stay and discuss the readings.

The event is free to the public! No RSVP is required, however seating is limited and first-come, first serve. Valet parking is available for $3 or self-park in the sub-level parking garage.

It’s long been a goal of ours to not only host a reading event here in Dallas, but to feature Marc Nieson as well. We’re truly pleased to be able to premiere our new series with him as our headliner. We’ve never forgotten how awed we were the first time we read “The Last Hours of Pompeii,” which stands as our most popular story to date on Carve.

Marc will also be teaching a pair of workshops at the local literary center, the Writers Garret the day following the event. It’s not too late to sign up and attend.

We hope you can join us if you’re in the Dallas area. For those who aren’t, we are looking at ways to stream or record the event, so stay tuned.
