Digital Mag Carves New Path in Old Territory;

 Online Short Fiction Venue Expands to Print

DALLAS, TX. August 1, 2012 Carve Magazine, one of the nation’s first online literary publications specializing in short fiction, announced the release of a Premium Print Edition. It is scheduled for publication in September 2012 and will be available by subscription or purchase through the magazine’s website, www.carvezine.com.

The printed edition is a venture in a new direction for the online magazine, making its literature available to all readers via digital and traditional print media. Since 2000, Carve’s quarterly magazine has been available to readers free of charge through its website.

“I believe print is becoming more personal in the age of digital, and it’s that intimacy as a community of authors, readers, and writers that I’m looking to cultivate,” says Executive Editor Matthew Limpede.

The cover of the fall issue features an illustration of the renowned writer Raymond Carver as a tribute to the magazine’s namesake. Also featured is an exclusive interview with Carver’s fellow writing companion and wife, Tess Gallagher.

In addition to award-winning short stories, the printed edition will include readers’ commentary, “Fast Facts” about a story’s journey to publication and “REJECT!” stories that were declined by Carve and published elsewhere.

“I hope our magazine will appeal to a wide range of readers and writers because it’s a different kind of lit mag that does more than present stories. We’re presenting the process too,” says Limpede.

Selected short stories will continue to be available free of charge on its website and are also available for purchase in e-reader format.

Carve Magazine strives to bring awareness to the literary community by encouraging, inspiring, and supporting writers and by publishing honest, genuine fiction.
